In keeping with this week’s “Classics” theme, I’m toasting Shakespeare’s 450th birthday with a glass of Chardonnay!
Instead of music as background noise today at work, I listened tons of incredible lectures on Shakespeare’s life and works throughout the day in celebration. Once a literature nerd, always a literature nerd!
For the past 8 weeks, I have been taking a massive open online course (MOOC) on Shakespeare and his world, through the University of Warwick in England in conjunction with the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust at Stratford-Upon-Avon. It’s fascinating and I’m enjoying this online course more than any of my undergraduate Shakespeare courses. Futurelearn is the course provider. It connects learners with universities all over the globe…FOR FREE. It doesn’t get any better than that! I encourage you to check out their open courses. I’m really enjoying the experience.
This week’s play is Antony and Cleopatra. And of course I read the assigned scenes with a glass of wine! Definitely not light reading, though! It’s not my favorite Shakespeare play, however, I’ll read anything with a glass of wine!
How did you celebrate?
